A web-based proxy is a service that allows you to bypass your own internet provider and browse using the proxy web-based website. All that you have to do is type the website address you would like to visit in the form they provide, and start browsing. Once you keep browsing using that form, you are protected and your *real* ip address is not being logged. There are hundreds of free proxies availible, and paid ones as well. The paid ones all have the advantage of better server funding, and therefore usualy provide faster services, but many of the free proxy sites that the great net provides are just as good. Proxies can be very useful if your ISP blocks certain websites, if the firewall at work blocks certain websites, if you want to register a new account at a forum you’re already registered to, etcetc. When working with paid for posting services and other internetrelated things, proxies will come in handy many times. The reason I so suddenly became interested in proxies is because the ISP I use have recently come in disagreement with another international carrier, and I can’t view certain websites with my connection, but a proxy solves this problem!
